Typhoon Mangosteen is the 22nd named storm in the 2018 Pacific Typhoon Season. “Mangosteen” is name that provided by Thailand and is a kind of fruit.
At 20:00 on September 7th , 2018, the typhoon “Mangosteen” was formed on the northwestern Pacific Ocean. At 1:40 am on September 15th 2018, the typhoon “Mangosteen” landed from the northern part of the Philippines. In many areas of Philippines, trees have been uprooted, poles have collapsed, buildings have been damaged. According to CCTV news reports, 25 people are known to have died and tens of thousands of people are affected in this typhoon.
At 9:30 on the September 16th of 2018, the typhoon “Mangosteen” moved into the northeastern part of the South China Sea. At 16:00, the “Mangosteen” center is located in the northeastern part of the South China Sea about 850 kilometers east-southeast of Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province, and is north-northwest. At 17 o’clock on September 16, 2018, it landed in Haiyan Town, Taishan, Guangdong. The maximum wind force near the center at that time of landing was 14 (45 m / s, equivalent to 162 km / h). Typhoons have caused serious damage to many areas such as Guangdong, Hongkong, Macao and so on. Guangdong Provincial Defense General decided to upgrade the windproof level II emergency response to level I at that time. The power of this typhoon can be imagined then.
At 17 o’clock on September 17, 2018, the typhoon “Mangosteen” has weakened into a tropical depression, reaching the territory of Baise City, Guangxi.
